Alex Mahoney
Skiing since: 1994
Racing since: 2005
Bio :
My first pair of skis was 60 cm long and attached to my snow boots.
I was 2 years old. There is very little snow in Lethbridge and
no trails so I also began skating. I loved skating and eventually
became a competitive figure skater. In grade 7 I switched to speed
skating and ski racing, since love going fast. Until the end of grade
12 I did both sports at which point I had to choose. I was at least
as good at long track and my prospects in that sport were high.
My love of absolute speed in skating lost to my love of the outdoors
and the greater variety of cross training activities in skiing. I moved
to snow, aka Canmore, in the fall of 2010 to ski full time.
In May of 2011, I was nominated to the National Junior Team.
